The study

Northwestern Medicine researchers evaluated 60 individuals faced with decisions that had to be made instantly. Meanwhile, breathing was monitored.


Scientists showed these volunteers images of faces expressing strong emotions. They needed to answer as quickly as possible what each expression represented (anger, fear, surprise, etc).
